Brackett pleads guilty, sent to jail and placed on probation

A North Adams woman pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to drug charges.  23 year old CATHERINE E. BRACKETT appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

BRACKETT pleaded guilty to one (1) count of DISTRIBUTION OF COCAINE, two (2) counts of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS and one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY ON A PUBLIC EMPLOYEE.  Judge Agostini ordered that she serve 1 year of a 2and a half year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charge of DISTRIBUTION OF COCAINE and one (1) count of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS.  BRACKETT was also placed on 1 year probation with the condition she undergo drug testing and counseling.  She was given concurrent 1 year house of correction sentences on the other charges.    

The incidents occurred in North Adams between January 1, 2013 and November 26, 2013.    

The investigation was conducted by members of the North Adams Police Department and state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s office.
