Cahalan is placed on probation for possessing child pornography

A Lee man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on pornography charges.  44 year old MICHAEL CAHALAN appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

CAHALAN pleaded guilty to three (3) counts of KNOWINGLY POSSESSING VISUAL MATERIAL OF A CHILD DEPICTED IN SEXUAL CONDUCT.  Judge Agostini placed him on 2 years probation with the conditions that CAHALAN have no unsupervised contact with anyone under 18, not use the internet unless it’s job related, register with the Sexual Assault Registry Board, wear a GPS monitor, forfeit all computer items that were seized and undergo evaluations and counseling as determined by probation.      

The incidents occurred in Lee between January 13, 2013 and February 11, 2013. 

One (1) count of DISSEMINATION OF VISUAL MATERIAL OF A CHILD IN A STATE OF NUDITY OR SEXUAL CONDUCT was dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.

The investigation was conducted by state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
