Dyer pleads guilty, will begin serving his sentence in August

A Springfield man pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to drug charges.  39 year old JOHN A. DYER, SR. appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

DYER pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense) and one (1) count of FAILURE TO WEAR A SEATBELT in connection with an incident in Cheshire on November 24, 2012.

He also pleaded guilty to one (1) count of POSSESSION OF OXYCODONE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense), one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AN OPEN CONTAINER OF ALCOHOL IN A MOTOR VEHICLE and one (1) count of FAILURE TO WEAR A SEATBELT in connection with a motor vehicle stop in Dalton on May 7, 2013. 

Judge Agostini ordered that DYER serve concurrent 2 and a half to 3 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of POSSESSION OF COCAINE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE and POSSESSION OF OXYCODONE WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense).  He was given a concurrent 2 and a half year house of correction sentence on the POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE (2nd offense) charge.  The other charges were placed on file.  DYER will begin serving his sentence on August 4th.      

The investigations were conducted by members of the Cheshire Police Department and state troopers assigned to the Cheshire barracks.
