Gaetani is ordered to serve time in state prison

A Pittsfield man, found guilty on May 15th, was sentenced this morning in Berkshire Superior Court.  The jury deliberated for about 4 hours over a two day period before returning its verdict against 64 year old GERALD V. GAETANI. 

GAETANI was found guilty on three (3) counts of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY WEAPON, twelve (12) counts of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY FEEDING DEVICE, one (1) count of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WITH A DEFACED SERIAL NUMBER, three (3) counts of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A LARGE CAPACITY FIREARM and one (1) count of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM.  Judge Mary Lou Rup ordered that he serve concurrent 2 and a half to 2 and a half years and 1 days sentences to the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY WEAPON and ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY FEEDING DEVICE.  GAETANI was given a concurrent 1 year house of correction sentence on the other charges.             

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at his Bradford Street home on March 3, 2013. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
