Gaetani sentenced to state prison on gun charges

A Pittsfield man, found guilty yesterday, was sentenced this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on firearm charges.  The jury deliberated for about 3 hours over a two day period before returning its verdict against 30 year old JUSTIN C. GAETANI (103 Bradford Street). 

GAETANI was found guilty on two (2) counts of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY WEAPON, twelve (12) counts of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY FEEDING DEVICE, two (2) counts of ILLEGAL OWNERSHIP OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION WITHOUT A FIREARM IDENTIFICATION CARD, one (1) count of POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WITH A DEFACED SERIAL NUMBER, three (3) counts of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A LARGE CAPACITY FIREARM and one (1) count of IMPROPER STORAGE OF A FIREARM.  Judge John Agostini ordered that he serve concurrent 5 to 8 year state prison sentences at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the charges of ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY WEAPON, ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A LARGE CAPACITY FEEDING DEVICE and IMPROPER STORAGE OF A LARGE CAPACITY FIREARM.  GAETANI was given concurrent house of correction sentences on the other charges.                  

The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at his home on March 3, 2013. 

The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department.
