Katz is arraigned on drug charges
A Pittsfield man was arraigned this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court on drug charges. 49 year old CHARLES M. KATZ (20 East Housatonic Street) appeared before Judge John Agostini.
KATZ had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on one (1) count of POSSESSION OF HEROIN WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE, one (1) count of DISTRIBUTION OF HEROIN, two (2) counts of DRUG VIOLATION WITHIN A DRUG FREE SCHOOL ZONE, one (1) count of CONSPIRACY TO VIOLATE DRUG LAWS and one (1) count of POSSESSION OF LORAZEPAM. Judge Agostini ordered that he be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $10,000 cash or $100,000 surety bail.
The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at 35 Appleton Avenue, in Pittsfield, on February 27, 2014.
The investigation was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, Berkshire County Sheriff’s Deputies and state troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force.
