Miller pleads guilty, sent to jail, placed on probation

A Williamstown woman pleaded guilty this afternoon in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  59 year old CARA J. MILLER appeared before Judge Mary Lou Rup. 

MILLER pleaded guilty to one (1) count of LARCENY, ONGOING AND CONTINUING OFFENSE and one (1) count of EMBEZZLEMENT.  Judge Rup ordered that she serve 3 months of a 2 year sentence to the Berkshire County House of Correction.  MILLER was also placed on 3 years probation on the condition she not work with any charitable organizations and perform 500 hours of community service work during the probationary period.  MILLER will begin serving her jail sentence on July 1st.         

MILLER while employed at Village Ambulance Service, in Williamstown, took approximately $240,000 from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2011. 

The investigation was conducted by State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
