Sarikcioglu pleads guilty, sentenced to jail and probation

A Pittsfield man pleaded guilty this morning in Berkshire Superior Court to several charges.  29 year old RECEP SARIKCIOGLU appeared before Judge John Agostini. 

SARIKCIOGLU pleaded guilty to one (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY MEANS OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON, one (1) count of INTIMIDATION OF A WITNESS OR OTHER PERSON, two (2) counts of VIOLATION OF A RESTRAINING ORDER and one (1) count of SOLICITING TO COMMIT A FELONY.   Judge Agostini ordered that he serve 55 days of a 1 year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the charge of SOLICITING TO COMMIT A FELONY.  SARIKCIOGLU was placed on 2 years probation on the other charges on the condition he have no contact with the victim and undergo a certified batterers program.  SARIKCIOGLU was also ordered to have no contact with his child for 18 months.     

SARIKCIOGLU assaulted a 27 year old woman in Pittsfield, violated a restraining order and solicited another to commit arson between May 13, 2013 and June 30, 2013.      

One (1) count of ASSAULT AND BATTERY and three (3) counts of INTIMIDATION OF A WITNESS OR OTHER PERSON were dismissed at the request of the Commonwealth.  

The investigations were conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Department and state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
