Signs for Recognizing a troubled employee:
- Major changes in personal appearance, attitude or behavior
- Change in personal relationships
- Reduction in job efficiency or productivity
- History of violent behavior (most predictive)
- Failure to communicate, avoids conflict
- Unusual interest in or preoccupation with weapons, or bringing weapons to work
- Serious stress in the employee’s life
- Heightened anxiety
- Overly defensive
- Substance abuse
- Serious mental illness: psychosis, depression
- Continual excuses/blaming others
- Unexplained signs of physical injury
- Agitation
