In August, about 75 members attended our Small Engine Repair and Chain Saw Safety training, presented by Timberland Machines, a state approved vendor. The course covered 2 and 4 stroke engines and chain saw sharpening. One member stated that “this training should be mandatory for all new employees.”

mafmaHighlights of our spring 2008 Semi-Annual Meeting, held on April 17th at the Hoagland-Pincus Conference Center in Shrewsbury:

The theme of our meeting was water conservation and proper water treatment. Two state approved vendors provided training to the 70 + members who attended. Metropolitan Pipe gave an interesting presentation detailing plumbing fixtures that are easily installed and give quick pay backs in savings. Barclay Water Management explained the importance of water treatment in boilers, chillers and other HVAC equipment. Our networking round table sessions discussed future trainings and successful water conservation strategies.

Commissioner David B. Perini presented a Certificate of Appreciation from the association to MAFMA member Robert Gilligan, Director of Capital Planning, Department of Youth Services (see photo on right).

Listed below please find links to the two presentations.

The MAFMA Team, Susan Kreusch, Ed Nicosia, Scott Calisti and Tom Tagan, manned an informational booth at the OSD STAR convention on 5/6/08, recruiting new members and signing people up for future training.
