DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY
The Waltham Armory property is 0.66-acre site and includes one building with a total of 18,300 square feet. The city of Waltham is located approx. 12.1 miles west of Boston, Massachusetts. The city is a diverse community with various opportunities for living, education, work, and leisure. Historically Waltham is probably best known as the home of the Waltham Watch Factory, a pioneer company of the Industrial Revolution. Today the city is home to a wide variety of thriving businesses, restaurants, and two major institutions of higher learning, Bentley College and Brandeis University.
DISPOSITION PROCESS AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS
DCAM consistent with its statutory authority under Section 548 of Chapter 26 of the Acts of 2003 sold the subject property, through public auction to Watch City LLC c/o Otis Realty for $990,000 on October 12, 2004. The property is located in a residentially zoned district and adjacent to the Waltham Weston Hospital & Medical Center. The Waltham Armory is registered on the State and National Historic Register. Future development plans are to be determined.
