Construction of a new Girls Detention Facility for the Department of Youth Services was recently completed in the Town of Westborough, MA. This is the first of its kind built specifically for girls in New England and is modeled after successful programs in Denver Colorado. A steel frame building with brick exterior, this one-story structure contains residential housing wings, classrooms, cafeteria, gymnasiums, and exterior exercise yards. Sitework included excavation and re-grading, entry road, parking for 45 cars, secure sallyport for transporting youths, outdoor recreation areas, and utility hook-ups. The building is located on the site of the Westboro State Hospital, but is not dependent on the Westborough State Hospital utilities.
