Bloomquist Shooting

Police Chief Daniel R. Rossi of West Tisbury and District Attorney Michael O'Keefe announced today that at approximately 7:45 AM Kenneth Bloomquist, DOB 4/28/47 went to 19 Skiffs Lane, West Tisbury and shot his wife Cynthia Bloomquist after apparently breaking into the house. Mr. Bloomquist had been residing off island.

Police responded as a result of a 911 call placed by Mrs. Bloomquist. She was found in an upstairs bedroom having sustained gunshot wounds to her torso. Mrs. Bloomquist was transported to Martha's Vineyard Hospital where she is being treated.

Mr. Bloomquist was found deceased inside the house with apparent gunshot wounds. The body will be transported to the Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

The matter remains under active investigation by West Tisbury Police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and the Medical Examiners Office. Further information may be available early next week as the investigation progresses.
