Richard Serriello Verdict
District Attorney Michael O'Keefe announced today that Richard Serriello (DOB: 07/02/1988) most recently of South Dennis was found guilty by a Barnstable District Court jury of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The verdict was reached after a two-day trial earlier this week. The Honorable Judge W. James O'Neill continued sentencing to April 12, 2012. The defendant is held without bail at the Plymouth House of Correction until the sentencing hearing.
The charges resulted from an incident that occurred in Yarmouth in the afternoon hours of July 25, 2011, when the defendant stabbed the victim with a knife outside of Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral home. The victim was with his family at the funeral home that day to mourn the loss of his younger brother who had passed away the week prior. The victim suffered a laceration on his wrist and was treated at Cape Cod Hospital.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Michelle L. Groff and investigated by the Yarmouth Police Department.
