District Attorney Michael O'Keefe announced today that on May 30, 2013, Matthew P. Tottenham (DOB: 03/28/1987) and Ryan E. Tottenham (DOB: 03/28/1987) both pleaded guilty in the Barnstable Superior Court to two counts of Home Invasion, one count of Armed Burglary, two counts of Assault with Intent to Rob/Murder, six counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Assault and Battery. Judge Robert C. Rufo sentenced Matthew P. Tottenham and Ryan E. Tottenham to State Prison for ten (10) to twelve (12) years committed on one count each of Armed Burglary. On the remaining charges, Judge Rufo placed both Matthew P. Tottenham and Ryan E. Tottenham on five years supervised probation from and after the committed portion of their sentences.
The incident that resulted in the above-described charges occurred on November 15, 2012, in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. On the evening of November 15, 2012, and while armed with a knife, a hammer and a wooden rifle stock, Matthew P. Tottenham and Ryan E. Tottenham broke and entered into a residence. Once inside, Matthew P. Tottenham and Ryan E. Tottenham beat two victims. One victim was stabbed. Both victims suffered serious injuries. During the early morning hours of November 16, 2012, authorities located and arrested Matthew P. Tottenham and Ryan E. Tottenham in Dennis, Massachusetts.
The case was investigated by the Yarmouth Police Department, the Dennis Police Department, the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department and the Massachusetts State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Edward F.X. Lynch
