The theme of the 2006 award focused on the demonstration of ongoing, innovative safety related advocacy initiatives dedicated to patients and families that are committed to the development of systems or processes to prevent adverse events.
The Betsy Lehman Center recognized the following winners:
Charles "Chuck" Young, RPh - for his long tenure at the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy (1985-2006), including ten years as Executive Director; and for his role in advancing best practice recommendations aimed at patient safety through the adoption of Board of Pharmacy Continuous Quality Improvement regulations.
The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy - for its adoption of Board regulations to promote Continuous Quality Improvement in the practice of pharmacy (the award was accepted by George Cayer, RPh, Board President, and Leo McKenna, RPh, Continuous Quality Improvement Surveyor for the Board).
The 2006 recipients were presented their awards at the Betsy Lehman Center's Annual Patient Safety Conference, held on December 7, 2006.
