The Fair Share Contribution (FSC) is a policy enacted under Chapter 58 of the Acts of 2006 which requires that an employer with 11 or more full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) make a "fair and reasonable" contribution toward the health care costs of its workers. The statute (MGL c. 149, ยง 188) requires an employer that is determined not to make a fair and reasonable contribution to pay a Fair Share Contribution of up to $295 per FTE. DHCFP is responsible for setting the standard via regulation regarding what constitutes a "fair and reasonable" contribution toward the cost of health coverage.
