Description of Project: |
The project consists
of three components: 1) the Domestic Violence Court
Assessment Project (DVCAP) which builds on the
work of the statewide court assessment, the results
of which were published in August 2003 as "Progress
and Challenges: Viewpoints on the Trial Court's
Response to Domestic Violence", including work
to address difficult issues highlighted in the
report, revision of forms and Guidelines, provision
of appropriate materials for court staff and participation
in numerous public and private collaborations;
2) presentation by the Judicial Institute of programs
for judicial and non-judicial personnel covering
issues arising in court cases involving violence
against women; and, 3) Redesigning the Court's
Response to Prostitution, a project designed to
assist the courts to better understand and address
issues faced by prostituted women and to allow
better handling of their cases.

Description of Project: |
This project will provide
training opportunities in innovative research technologies
to criminal justice agency researchers and other
staff interested in research. Training will be
coordinated through MCJARG, a collaborative group
with representation of many criminal justice agencies.
A pre‑project needs assessment survey will
be distributed to establish priorities for training,
conducting training programs and providing for
ongoing project management.

This project will provide
an implementation tool for the Trial Court that
will focus on the highest quality court connected
dispute resolution services. Implementation of
mediator qualification standards will ensure that
Rule 8 of the Uniform Rules on Dispute Resolution
is achieved and maintained by community mediation
programs for the benefit of litigants using court
connected dispute resolution services.
