ADMINISTRATION AND
MANAGEMENT HONORABLE ROBERT A. MULLIGAN
RE: THE APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE
PROBATE AND FAMILY COURT
On
September 28, 2007, Chief Justice Sean M. Dunphy will retire after
twenty-nine years of exemplary service to the Probate and Family
Court Department of the Trial Court. For nearly ten years he has
served as Chief Justice and has demonstrated extraordinary leadership
and distinguished management in that capacity.
Under
G.L. c. 211B, §5, the Chief Justice for Administration and
Management is authorized to appoint a successor Chief Justice from
among the current judges of the Probate and Family Court Department.
To assist me in performing my statutory duty, I am soliciting comments
from judges, court employees, attorneys, and other interested persons
on the state and operations of the Probate and Family Court, its
priorities and accomplishments, the future goals of the court,
and the role of the Chief Justice as part of the court’s
future. Nominations for the position of Chief Justice are also
invited. All correspondence should be sent to me by Friday, August
31, 2007.
