425 Main Street, Greenfield

The new Greenfield Trial Court will comprise of the historic front of the existing building and a modern three story addition. The facility will serve as a regional justice center with courtroom and office space for the Superior Court, District Court, Probate & Family Court, Housing Court, Juvenile Court, Law Library, Registry of Deeds and the District Attorney. Construction of the new courthouse will reduce court operational expenses by moving the Juvenile and Housing Court from a lease into state-owned property. The project's goal is to achieve a LEED Silver certification.

Current Status ( 3-24-2014 ): Court departments in the existing building were relocated to a leased facility at 101 Munson Street in Greenfield. The general contractor is obtaining necessary permits and testing for hazardous materials. Demolition of the rear addition will begin in the spring.
