Welcome to the Court Capital Projects (CCP) department of the Office of Court Management. CCP represents the Massachusetts judicial system as the user agency in all projects involving the construction and major renovation of courthouses. CCP plans and administers those construction and renovation projects approved by the Court Administrator that fall within the statutory threshold for management by the court system as the user agency.
It is the mission of Court Capital Projects to provide access to justice, through the capital improvement of life safety, security and structural integrity of court facilities that are owned by the Commonwealth or the political subdivisions of the Commonwealth.
The Trial Court has been able to invest in the capital improvement of several courthouses in recent years. Five cutting-edge regional justice centers have opened in the past decade, totaling over one million square feet of new courthouse space. Several leases and outdated facilities have been replaced through consolidation into these modern courthouses.
Three major projects are currently underway. The Greenfield Trial Court, being expanded and renovated, will incorporate operational improvements identified by the Court’s Strategic Plan. A new energy-efficient Lowell Judicial Center, replacing two aging facilities and a private lease, is being planned for the Hamilton Canal District. The Probate & Family Court in Salem is being renovated and will include the latest improvements in courthouse planning.
