Land Court Hours of Operation:
The Recorder's Office, including the front counter, survey division and chief title examiner's office is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition, the staff are not available by phone until 10:00 a.m.
The scheduling of court sessions is not affected by the Recorder's Office public hours. Court events may begin as early as 8:30 a.m. If you have a court event scheduled in the morning, you should come to the 5th floor of the courthouse where the courtroom listing for the day will be posted at 8:30 a.m., so you know where to go.
If on the day you have a court event scheduled during the morning session and something occurs that requires you to get a phone message to the court about that event, you should call the main number, 617-788-7470, press 9, and leave a message. Staff will check that message line regularly between 8:30 and 10:00 each morning.
While this restriction in hours that court staff are available to the public is regrettable to us and will require some additional planning by court users, our loss of staff over the past three years makes this change necessary. Our employees will be working their regular hours and using the first portion of each workday to process current and backlogged cases. It is our goal to process our cases as efficiently as possible and this measure is taken in support of that goal. As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions.
