In his remarks at the Essex County Veterans Treatment Court's inaugural graduation last month, Governor Charlie Baker thanked the Trial Court for its efforts to help those who have served in the military, saying that the intensive probation program should be offered to more qualifying veterans as an alternative to incarceration.

In addition to Governor Baker, state and local officials attending the event included Lawrence Mayor Daniel Rivera and Secretary of the Department of Veterans Services Francisco Ureña. Court leaders in attendance included: Trial Court Chief Justice Paula Carey, Court Administrator Jon Williams, Commissioner of Probation Edward Dolan, District Court Chief Justice Paul Dawley, Lawrence District Court First Justice Lynn C. Rooney, Presiding Judge Kevin Gaffney, who served as the master of ceremonies, Clerk-Magistrate Keith McDonough, Chief Probation Officer Kevin Henebury, and Director of Specialty Courts for the District Court Judge Mary Hogan Sullivan.
