Joint Statement on the House
Override

We
are very pleased to inform you that the House yesterday overrode
the Governor’s vetoes of $11.45 million in Trial Court funds
for FY08. The override vote was 153-0 on both Trial Court line
items. We have communicated our appreciation to House Speaker DiMasi
and House Ways and Means Chairman DeLeo for their strong leadership and support.
We
believe that the action by the House represents a recognition and
validation of the essential work and the extraordinary commitment
of Trial Court employees who work so hard to deliver justice to
the thousands who arrive at our courthouses each day.
We
are hopeful that the Senate also will vote to override the Governor’s
vetoes in the near future. We will keep you informed of the Senate’s
action.
We
want to thank you for your patience and continued focus as we dealt
with a challenging FY08 budget process.
