The Trial Court today announced exam dates and opened online registration for the entry exams required to establish eligibility to apply for Court Officer and Probation Officer positions.

The exam for Probation Officer eligibility will be conducted on June 28th and for Court Officer eligibility on July 19th.  Both exams will be conducted at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on Summer Street.  The standard registration deadline is May 7th and an $80 fee will apply.  Late registrants will pay a fee of $130 to register through May 14th.

Passing the exam does not guarantee an interview for the Court Officer or Probation Officer positions.  Individuals must respond to a job posting after passing the examination and must also meet minimum eligibility requirements to be considered for the appointment to either position.  Exam registrants should be aware that job applicants selected for an interview typically exceed the minimum requirements.

Exam registrants will receive an email confirming their registration. They will also receive an orientation and preparation guide by email several weeks prior to the examination.

No make-up exam dates will be available, with the exception of current military personnel who, in connection with current service, have military orders indicating their unavailability due to military service on the examination date.  They must register and pay for the exam and request a makeup examination in writing, with a copy of their military orders attached.

Fee waivers and other accommodations may be requested.  There will be no fee refunds unless the examination is cancelled by the Trial Court.
