Trial Court Chief Justice Paula M. Carey today announced the appointment of Edward P. Ryan, Jr., of Leominster, to the Commission on Judicial Conduct, effective November 1, 2016. The term will expire on October 31, 2022.
The Commission on Judicial Conduct, established in 1978, investigates allegations of misconduct by state judges. Pursuant to G.L c.211 §1, three judges are appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court; three attorneys are appointed by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court; and three lay persons are appointed by the Governor, all to six-year terms.
Attorney Ryan manages the Leominster law firm of O’Connor and Ryan. His practice specializes in domestic relations, probate, criminal, civil and personal injury law. He is a past president of the Massachusetts Bar Association and previously served as a member of the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association, president of the Northern Worcester County Bar Association and Bar Advocates of Worcester County. He is both the present and a past president of the Worcester County Bar Association and former chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association Task Force on Fair and Impartial Courts.
Attorney Ryan is a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit College and Suffolk University Law School.
