Uniform Transcript Format Introduced

A new uniform format for trial transcripts developed with input from members of the bar, court reporters and court transcribers was issued May 27, 2008, to members of the judiciary, court officials and staff, as well as to external stakeholders impacted by the change, and will take effect June 30, 2008.

The Office of Transcription Services with the guidance of the AOTC Working Group on Trial Transcripts issued Administrative Directive #1-08, which provides the formatting instructions for the production of all transcripts in all courts of the Commonwealth.

The Report of the Study Committee on Trial Transcripts, commonly known as the Green Report, provided the impetus for creating the Uniform Transcript Format (UTF). The SJC Committee on Time Standards for Court Reporters also provided guidance in this effort.
