HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS ACT AS SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT
"JUSTICES" AND "CLERKS" ON STUDENT GOVERNMENT DAY
Boston, MA-Supreme
Judicial Court Justice Judith A. Cowin (pictured in robe)
discussed the role of the appellate courts with high school
students from across the Commonwealth as part of Student Government
Day activities at the Court on Friday, April 4, 2003. The
students and their alternates were designated as the seven
Supreme Judicial Court Justices, the Clerk for the Commonwealth,
and the Clerk for Suffolk County for the day. The students
also met with staff members and had a tour of the Court.
Established
in 1947, Student Government Day, which is sponsored by the
Massachusetts Department of Education, enables high school
students to learn about state government through observation
of governmental proceedings and interactive activities.
