MASSACHUSETTS COURTS TO CELEBRATE LAW DAY

What:

To celebrate Law Day, May 1, courts throughout Massachusetts are holding special events to recognize the achievement of our American constitutional democracy and the rule of law in society. This year’s theme, “Liberty Under Law: Empowering Youth, Assuring Democracy” focuses on law related education for young people.

In partnership with bar associations, schools, and communities, courts in every part of the state are planning special activities, such as mini-mock trials, observations of court proceedings, essay and poster contest awards, art displays, choruses, bands, and receptions. Special guest speakers will include Chief Justices, judges, legislators, executive branch leaders, bar leaders, constitutional officers, school principals, community leaders, star athletes, and other dignitaries. Judges and lawyers are also visiting classrooms to talk with students.

Law Day was established in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to celebrate nationally the contributions of law to American freedom.
