HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
REPRESENT SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT
JUSTICES AND CLERKS ON STUDENT GOVERNMENT DAY
Supreme
Judicial Court Justice Robert J. Cordy met with high
school students from across Massachusetts as part of
Student Government Day activities at the Court on Friday,
April 7, 2006. The students, who were designated “Justices” and “Clerks” for
the day, also met with Clerk for the Commonwealth Susan
Mellen and Clerk for Suffolk County Maura Doyle, who
explained the appellate process to them. The group toured
the John Adams Courthouse with Discovering Justice docents
and learned about John Adams and the Massachusetts Constitution
as well as the history, art, and architecture of the
19th century building.
Sponsored
by the Massachusetts Department of Education, Student
Government Day was established in 1947, and gives young
people the opportunity to learn about state government
through the observation of governmental proceedings and
interactive activities.
