Boston, MA--Chief Justice for Administration and Management Barbara A. Dortch-Okara today announced that she will present awards to the Trial Court Employee of the Year, Michael F. Herman, Assistant Register at the Worcester Probate and Family Court, and to seventeen Trial Court employees, recipients of the 2003 Trial Court Employee Excellence Awards.  Chief Justice Dortch-Okara will present the awards in a ceremony on May 22, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Union Station in Worcester. (See attached list)

            Mr. Herman, who has served at the Worcester Probate and Family Court for twenty-four years, began his career there as Head Administrative Assistant, and was promoted to the position of Assistant Register.  Well-liked and respected by all his colleagues, Mr. Herman is recognized by his peers as a committed team player, who often carries out his tasks beyond the call of duty. As a dedicated worker with a broad knowledge of court procedures, Mr. Herman enjoys helping the public.

            Chief Justice Dortch-Okara said, “In his professionalism and unfailing service to the courts and to the public, Michael Herman truly exemplifies excellence as demonstrated by his job performance, work ethic, and attitude.  All of the award recipients, who were selected by their colleagues, deserve special recognition for their dedication and model job performance.”

            A thirteen-member committee selected seventeen employees from the 200 nominations submitted for the Employee Excellence AwardsCandidates for the awards are chosen and nominated by their supervisors and colleagues in the courts where they work.

            Since 1987, the Administrative Office of the Trial Court has honored Trial Court employees with the annual awards for their outstanding job performance and commitment to public service.  There are approximately 6,700 employees in the Trial Court at more than 100 court locations and offices statewide.
