Supreme
Judicial Court Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall
met with thirty American Field Service students from
ten countries on April 14 at the John Adams Courthouse
to discuss the judicial branch of government and
the history and significance of the Massachusetts
and United States Constitutions. Chief Justice Marshall
described her own experience as an American Field
Service student in the United States in 1962. The
group also visited the Suffolk Superior Court where
they met with Judge Geraldine S. Hines.
The
students, who attend high schools in Massachusetts
and Rhode Island for a year, live in Azerbaijan,
China, France, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Japan,
Malaysia, Norway, and Turkey. Established in 1947,
the American Field Service exchange program is an
international, non-profit organization that provides
intercultural learning experiences.
