Supreme Judicial Court
Justice Francis X. Spina will present the John Adams
Pro Bono Publico Awards to three recipients in recognition
of distinguished service and outstanding commitment
in providing legal services for poor and disadvantaged
citizens in Massachusetts.
This year the Supreme Judicial Court's Standing
Committee has selected the following recipients
to receive the awards: Attorney Mark I. Berson,
president, Levy, Winer & Berson, P.C. of Greenfield;
Retired Probate and Family Court Judge Edward M.Ginsburg
of Newton, founder of Senior Partners for Justice;
and Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo,
P.C. with special recognition to partner Susan
J. Cohen, of Belmont, and associate Grant Sovern,
of Brookline, for their work on behalf of the Political
Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) project.
This is the fourth annual presentation of the prestigious
awards, which are named in honor of Attorneys John
Adams and John Quincy Adams.
The Supreme Judicial Court's Standing Committee
on Pro Bono Legal Services works to promote volunteer
legal work in Massachusetts to help people of limited
means in need of legal representation, in accordance
with SJC Rule 6.1.
