EAST
CAMBRIDGE COURTHOUSE TO BE TEMPORARY HOME
FOR NEWTON DISTRICT COURT BEGINNING ON JUNE 4
Boston, MA--While
the 70 year-old Newton District Courthouse receives a comprehensive
interior and exterior makeover during the next two years,
the business of the Newton District Court will be conducted
at the East Cambridge Trial Court, 121 Third Street in East
Cambridge, beginning on Monday, June 4. The move will take
place during the weekend of June 1 through June 3.
The exterior renovation work
will include a new roof, extensive brickwork, and the addition
of fire escapes. The interior work will consist of new mechanical
systems, wiring, elevators, and security enhancements. The
architect is Drummey, Roseane, and Anderson, Inc. of Newton.
It
is anticipated that the courthouse will reopen in 2003.
