Trial
Court Employees Honored For Excellence
in Special Awards Ceremony
Boston—In
recognition of their outstanding public service, Chief
Justice for Administration and Management Barbara A. Dortch-Okara
today honored the Trial Court's Employee of the Year and the
recipients of the 2000 Trial Court Employee Excellence Awards
at a special ceremony in the Norfolk Juvenile Court in Dedham.
The
Trial Court Employee of the Year is William J. Barrett, Probation
Officer at the Norfolk Juvenile Court, where he has worked
since 1998. He started his career in 1974 as a Probation Officer
at the Boston Juvenile Court. Mr. Barrett, who supervises
fifty to seventy children, was nominated by judges and court
employees in Norfolk Juvenile Court.
Chief Justice
Dortch-Okara said, "William Barrett, who is an exemplary mentor
to the young people under his care and who regularly performs
beyond the call of duty, is an inspiration to all of us. The
dedicated court employees, who were selected by their colleagues
in recognition of outstanding performance and service to the
public, are all deserving recipients of these special awards,
and of our admiration."

Building Systems Manager Armando J. "Red" DeFilippis; Worcester
Probate and Family Court Procedures Clerk II Martha E. Hidenfelter;
Boston Municipal Court Assistant Clerk-Magistrate Ruth M.
Hunter; Milford District Court Head Administrative Assistant
T. Perry Landry; Worcester Probate and Family Court Administrative
Secretary Donna M. McLaughlin; Milford District Court Probation
Officer Hollie D. Moultrie; Hampden Probate and Family Court
Administrative Assistant II Norma A. Noone; Hampden Housing
Court Sessions Clerk Kelly Rapp; Woburn District Court Head
Administrative Assistant Paula E. Viola; Barnstable Superior
Court Assistant Clerk Nancy N. Weir; Salem District Court
Associate Probation Officer Sean P. Whalen; and Chicopee District
Court Probation Officer Pearl Wilkinson.
In addition,
Donna Lee, Fiscal Affairs Department Assistant Manager in
the Administrative Office of the Trial Court, and Linda Rowe,
AOTC Human Resources Specialist, received awards for their
significant contributions in the design and implementation
of the Human Resources and Compensation Management System
Project (HR/CMS) for the Trial Court.
Since 1987,
the Administrative Office of the Trial Court has honored Trial
Court employees with the annual awards for their outstanding
job performance and commitment to public service. A thirteen-member
committee selected the winners from over 130 nominations.
There are approximately 7,000 employees in the Trial Court
at more than 100 court locations and offices statewide.
