MONAN COMMITTEE AND COURT MANAGEMENT ADVISORY BOARD
HOLD HISTORIC MEETING IN JOHN ADAMS COURTHOUSE
Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall and Chief Justice for Administration and Management Robert A. Mulligan hosted an historic meeting with members of the Visiting Committee on Management in the Courts (Monan Committee) and the Court Management Advisory Board on June 5, 2007 in the John Adams Courthouse. This event marked the first time that the two groups gathered together to discuss major court management initiatives implemented by the Trial Court to meet recommendations of the Monan Committee. The Court Metrics project, Time Standards, Staffing Models, and the use of MassCourts in producing data were some of the topics discussed at the meeting.
Chief Justice Marshall, Chief Justice Mulligan, Father J. Donald Monan, S. J., Chair of the Monan Committee, and Michael B. Keating, Chair of the Court Management Advisory Board, addressed the audience, which included members of both committeess and the Chief Justices of the Trial Court. Father Monan described the meeting as an “historic event” and expressed his enthusiasm for the work of the Trial Court Chief Justices, judges and staff. He said that first steps are often the hardest, but that the efforts “reflect a change of culture in the court system.”
