CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERT A. MULLIGAN APPOINTS NEW GENERAL COUNSEL
FOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE TRIAL COURT


          Chief Justice for Administration and Management Robert A. Mulligan today announced the appointment of Attorney Daniel P. Sullivan as General Counsel for the Administrative Office of the Trial Court. A West Roxbury resident, Mr. Sullivan will begin his new position on July 5, 2006.

          As General Counsel, Mr. Sullivan will direct and supervise the work of the Legal Department and provide legal advice to Chief Justice Mulligan, department heads, and court officials

          Chief Justice Mulligan said, “I am very pleased that Dan Sullivan will be joining our team. Dan is an excellent lawyer with solid experience both in litigation and legislative matters. I know he will be a superb General Counsel for the Trial Court.”

          Mr. Sullivan brings a breadth of legal and legislative experience to his new position. He previously served as the General Counsel for the Massachusetts Senate Ways and Means Committee for five years. From 1994 to 2001, he was a partner at the Boston law firm of Murphy, Michaels & Sullivan, LLP., where he managed and tried a broad array of complex civil litigation in federal and state courts. Prior to that, he worked for Day, Berry & Howard in Boston and the New York City firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Mr. Sullivan holds a J.D. degree with high honors from Rutgers University School of Law where he was a Saul Tischler Scholar, and a B.A. from Harvard University.

          Mr. Sullivan said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve the Trial Court under Chief Justice Mulligan’s leadership. I hope to represent the Court with the integrity and conscientiousness that have become its hallmarks.”
