MASSACHUSETTS COURT SYSTEM PRESENTS
FIRST COURT FAMILY ART EXHIBIT
More
than thirty judges, court staff, and their family members
exhibited their art work in the Massachusetts judicial
system’s first-ever Court Family Art Exhibit, open
to the public and held in the John Adams Courthouse on
June 21 and 22, 2007. Some eighty pieces of art were
on display, including an assortment of paintings, drawings,
photographs, pottery, a quilt, and a hand-made cherry
coffee table. A few hundred visitors viewed the exhibit
over the two days and enjoyed the artistic talents of
the many people associated with the state and federal
courts.
At
the Thursday evening reception, Superior Court Chief
Justice Barbara J. Rouse warmly welcomed the roomful
of judges, court staff, families, artists, and guests.
Superior Court Judge Stephen E. Neel, who devotes much
of his off-the-bench time to painting and music, praised
the accomplishments of the participants in his remarks
and shared his reflections about the correlation of art
and professional life. Superior Court Case Management
Coordinator Peter Nylin served as exhibit “curator” and
had some of his own paintings on display.
