SJC CHIEF JUSTICE
MARGARET H. MARSHALL AND JUSTICE
RODERICK L. IRELAND MEET WITH JUDICIAL YOUTH CORPS STUDENTS
Boston, MA-
Eighteen high school students of the Supreme Judicial Court’s
2002 Judicial Youth Corps met with Supreme Judicial Court
Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall, seated at left, and Supreme
Judicial Court Justice Roderick L. Ireland, seated at right,
on July 17. Participants in the Judicial Youth Corps, now
in its twelfth year, learn about the Massachusetts court system
during weekly educational sessions in the spring and summer.
Judges, clerks, probation officers, attorneys, and law enforcement
officers volunteer their time teaching and mentoring the students.
In July and August, the students work in paid internships
in courts and offices throughout Suffolk County. The internships
for this year’s program are funded through a grant by the
Boston Private Industry Council. The program is administered
by the SJC’s Public Information Office.
