FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ATTLEBORO DISTRICT COURT TO OPEN JULY 27, 2009
Civil Jury Trials Assigned to Wrentham District Court
Criminal Jury Trials Assigned to the Taunton District Court

The Attleboro District Court and Juvenile Court will resume operations on Monday, July 27 at its North Main Street location after a May 18 fire closed the court for over two months. A fire restoration company has cleaned and sealed off the damaged areas of the courthouse on the top floor and an assessment of the electrical service has determined that the building is safe for occupancy by the staff and the public. The civil clerk's office, which was destroyed in the fire, will be relocated to the jury assembly room on the basement level of the court.

Beginning on Monday, July 27, all Attleboro District Court business will be conducted in the Attleboro District Court with the exception of jury trials. Civil jury trials will be transferred to the Wrentham District Court for trial and criminal jury trials will be transferred to the Taunton District Court. Jurors who were scheduled to report to the Attleboro courthouse should not report for juror service.
