Supreme Judicial Court Reappoints Member to Committee on Judicial Ethics
The Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court recently reappointed Gloucester District Court Judge Ellen Flatley to the Committee on Judicial Ethics for a five-year term, expiring on August 31, 2011.
Pursuant to SJC Rule 3:11, the five-member Committee on Judicial Ethics provides advisory opinions and informal advice to judges and to individuals nominated to be judges who seek advice with respect to the rules of court that govern the ethical and professional conduct of judges. Appeals Court Justice James F. McHugh is the committee chair.
Appointed to the Gloucester District Court in 1988, Judge Flatley now sits principally in Lynn District Court. She has participated in several legal exchange programs in China as a delegate of the Rule of Law Program sponsored by the Massachusetts Judges Conference. She is a former member of the District Court Appellate Division for the Northern District.
