More
than a hundred people attended the Suffolk County Drug
Symposium, hosted by Boston Municipal Court Chief Justice
Charles R. Johnson and State Representative Eugene O'Flaherty,
House Chair of the Judiciary Committee, held in the John
Adams Courthouse on October 17, 2005. Members of the
judiciary, bar, law enforcement, public health, and social
service organizations participated in the roundtable
forum to address the drug problems in Suffolk County
and across the state. The Boston Municipal Court Department's
Alcohol and Drug Treatment Initiative Planning Committee
was instrumental in planning the program, the first in
a series aimed at developing a unified and coordinated
approach to combat the growing problem of drug addiction
and related criminal behavior in neighborhoods and communities
in Massachusetts.
