PORTRAIT OF FORMER U. S. SENATOR EDWARD W. BROOKE TO BE UNVEILED AT BROOKE COURTHOUSE ON OCTOBER 26

What:

Honorable Edward W. Brooke, the first African American elected to the United States Senate in 1966, and the first African American to be elected as Massachusetts Attorney General in 1962, will celebrate his 83rd birthday on Saturday, October 26, 2002, with a portrait unveiling at the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse. The portrait, a gift to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from his wife, Anne, will be hung in the Brooke Courthouse, which was named in his honor in 1999. Numerous friends, colleagues, family members, judges, legislators, executive branch officials, and other dignitaries will help to celebrate the occasion.
