FRANKLIN-HAMPSHIRE JUVENILE COURT
HOLDS "TOWN HALL" MEETING
NORTHAMPTON, MA -- In an effort to assess how the Franklin-Hampshire Juvenile Court is meeting the public's needs, judges and staff invited lawyers, legislators, school officials, social workers, district attorneys, and community leaders to a public forum called "Public Trust and Confidence in Our Court." Approximately 75 people filled the Northampton courtroom on October 19 in the evening to share information and to explore new ideas on ways the Franklin-Hampshire Juvenile Court can best serve the public. Ronald P. Corbett, Jr., Executive Director of the Supreme Judicial Court, led the group discussion. Juvenile Court Chief Justice Martha P. Grace and Franklin-Hampshire Juvenile Court First Justice Lillian Miranda participated in the meeting.
"This was an outstanding forum that provided an excellent opportunity for the greater community to interact with the court and to give feedback on the ways the court can improve service to the public. Many constructive comments, which we hope to implement, came out of this meeting," said Chief Justice Grace.
Similar "Public Trust and Confidence in Our Court" meetings have been held in several courts during the past few years.
