TAUNTON DISTRICT COURT TO RELOCATE TO FORMER COHANNET SCHOOL

 

Boston, MA — After serving the public for nearly180 years in the courthouse at 15 Court Street, the Taunton District Court will relocate to the Cohannet School building at 120 Cohannet Street in Taunton. Constructed in 1826, the courthouse is in dire need of repair and lacks the necessary space to meet the needs of the public, lawyers, judges and court staff. The relocation will take place in two phases.

 

          The Probation Office will relocate from its present address at 18 Broadway to 120 Cohannet Street on the weekend of November 19 and 20, and open for business on Monday, November 21. The new telephone number is (508) 824-0961.

 

          The Taunton District Court offices will relocate on the weekend of December 3 and 4, and open for business on Monday, December 5. The telephone number for the Court will remain the same. 

 

          The jurisdiction of the Taunton District Court includes the Bristol County communities of Berkley, Dighton, Easton, Raynham, Rehoboth, Seekonk, and Taunton. Judge Kevan J. Cunningham is the First Justice of Taunton District Court.
