CHIEF
JUSTICE FOR ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT APPOINTS NEW INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY PROJECT MANAGER FOR MASSACHUSETTS TRIAL COURT
Boston, MA--Chief
Justice for Administration and Management Barbara A. Dortch-Okara
recently announced the appointment of Susan A. Laniewski,
Esq. as Information Technology Project Manager for the Massachusetts
Trial Court. Ms. Laniewski, a resident of Rockport, assumed
her new position on November 13, 2001.
As
Information Technology Project Manager, Ms. Laniewski is responsible
for coordinating and facilitating the completion of internal
and external projects, which will lead to the full implementation
of the Trial Court’s IT plan, including the development of
MassCourts, the statewide case management system for the Trial
Court.
Ms.
Laniewski brings a breadth of experience and expertise from
both the private and public sectors in the field of automation
of state court systems. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Laniewski
served as a Senior Advisor /Partner Relationship Manager at
Nortel Networks. From 1996 to 1999, she was a Solutions Director
in the Justice and Public Safety Division, Information Services
Group, at Unisys Corporation in Virginia, where she managed
court and public safety projects for state and local governments
and was instrumental in expanding the company’s business in
the justice and public safety field worldwide.
Ms.
Laniewski also served as Director of Technology in the Court
Services Division of the National Center for State Courts
for three years. In that capacity, she led information technology
projects in more than 13 state and local court systems, as
well as court improvement initiatives in the Bahamas, Bermuda,
Trinidad, and the Middle East.
In
1998, as a People to People Ambassador, she reviewed electronic
commerce issues in several former Soviet Bloc nations. She
also participated in the U. S. Department of Justice’s Internet
Infrastructure Committee, examining electronic commerce issues.
As a Senior Manager at MAXIMUS, Inc. for six years, she completed
a number of court automation and interagency systems projects,
including the Rhode Island and Connecticut statewide justice
programs and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue Child
Support Conversion project. From 1988 to 1989, she worked
as a Special Projects Administrator for the statewide automation
project of the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.
She was also employed by the U.S. Marshals service, U.S. Department
of Justice, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office
of the Inspector General.
Ms.
Laniewski graduated cum laude from LaSalle College, and received
a Master of Public Administration degree, magna cum laude,
from Pennsylvania State University. She holds a J.D. degree
from the New England School of Law, and was admitted to the
bar in Virginia in 1993.
A
resident of Rockport, Ms. Laniewski is a member of the American
Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and the American
Society for Public Administration, among others.
