JUSTICES OF
THE COURT OF CASSATION, FRANCE'S HIGHEST COURT,
VISIT MASSACHUSETTS SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT
Boston, MA-The Chief Justice and several
other Justices of the Cour de Cassation, the highest court
in France, participated in a warm and spirited judicial exchange
recently with Justices of the Supreme Judicial Court and Superior
Court in the SJC's Consultation Room.Leading the discussion
were SJC Justices Robert J. Cordy and Martha B. Sosman, with
three Superior Court Judges,Paul A. Chernoff,
John C. Cratsley and Christopher J. Muse, who provided the
French judges with an overview of the history of the Supreme
Judicial Court, appellate and trial court procedures, and
the distinctions between state and federal court jurisdictions.
The French judges had also visited the United States SupremeCourt before their brief stay in Boston.
