PINT-SIZE PROFESSIONALS TO REPORT FOR DUTY
AT SUFFOLK JUVENILE PROBATION'S
"TAKE YOUR SON AND DAUGHTER TO WORK DAY" EVENT

Forty children, ages seven to 14, will take on the roles of probation officers, court officers, witnesses, attorneys and a judge tomorrow, Thursday, April 24th, as part of Suffolk County Juvenile Probation Department’s “Take Your Son and Daughter to Work Day.” The event, which will take place at the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse, 24 New Chardon Street, Boston, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end with a mock trial at 2:30 p.m.

The mini-professionals, the sons and daughters of court employees, will spend the day learning about the court system and what their parents do at work each day. The children will sign in at 8:30 a.m. and each child will be given a role assignment. They will go on a tour of the courthouse and later “shadow” or spend part of the day with court employees who match the childrens’ assigned roles. The children will also participate in a magistrate hearing and meet with attorneys.

A mock trial, to be conducted by Suffolk Juvenile Court Judge Terry Craven, will begin at 2:30 p.m. Suffolk Juvenile Court Probation Officer Bernice A. Asquith is the chief organizer of the event.
