Probation Employees Are Recognized At State House Ceremony

Probation Commissioner John J. O'Brien honored 21 probation employees at the 2005 Probation Employee Recognition Ceremony on Friday in the Great Hall at the State House.

 

Ten support staff employees and 11 line probation officers from across the state were recognized for their exemplary work and dedication to the agency.

 

"The probation employees we honored possess a strong work ethic. Their leadership in the probation departments throughout the state reflects in a positive way on our profession. These employees have contributed momentously to our organization and because of their invaluable contributions, we continue to maintain the high standard of excellence that is the hallmark of our service," said Commissioner John J. O'Brien.

 

Senate President Robert E. Travaglini of Suffolk County was on hand to commend the honorees for a "job well done." Legislative representatives from each of the districts, where the honorees work, were also present. Among the legislators represented at the ceremony were Senate Representative Timothy Toomey; State Representative Philip Travis; Senator Pamela Resor; Senator Bruce Tarr; Senator Dianne Wilkerson; Representative Eric Turkington; Senator Mark Montigny; Senator Brian Joyce; Senator Robert O'Leary; Representative Eugene O'Flaherty; and Senator Jarrett Barrios.

 

Among the honorees were support staff employees: Susan Prisco of Falmouth DistrictCourt; Janice M. Gauvin of Bristol Superior Court; Julie Ann Gilligan of Ipswich District Court; Jean M. Howe of Greenfield District Court; Evelyn Medina of Springfield District Court; Kathleen Cashton of Middlesex Juvenile Court: Mary Ellen Shippey of Norfolk Superior Court; Joanne Downey of Plymouth JuvenileCourt; Antoinette Pina of Wareham District Court; and Lisa Bousquet of Westborough District Court.

 

Probation Officer award recipients included: Brendan M. Lucey of Barnstable SuperiorCourt; Randall J. Draper of Berkshire Probate & Family Court; Donald J.Chausse of New Bedford District Court; Steven Sliwoskiof Essex Probate & FamilyCourt; Robert K. Brown of Greenfield District Court; Patrick E. Shea of Hampden Superior Court; Susan G. Reed of Ayer District Court; Susan Hart of Quincy DistrictCourt; Barbara Somerville of Hingham District Court; Stephen DeLuca of Charlestown District Court; and Wendy A. Pelchat of Westborough District Court.

 

The celebration at the State House, which is held to acknowledge the exemplary work of both Probation Officers and Support Staff personnel, is the third annual recognition of probation employees.
