MIDDLESEX JUVENILE COURT PROBATION OFFICERS
HOST CAMBODIAN NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
Earlier this month, more than 100 representatives from Lowell social service and law enforcement agencies as well as local residents turned out to celebrate Cambodian New Year, an event hosted by Middlesex Juvenile Court Probation Officers Timothy Mouth, Michael Vann, and Bophany Pheng-Beiferman.
Probation Officer Mouth, who is also a community advocate, local radio show host and Desert Storm veteran, shared his experiences with the audience, including his time spent in a concentration camp as a child. Members of the audience were visibly moved by his story.
This second annual celebration featured performances by the Anghor Dance Troupe as well as a potluck dinner featuring Southeast Asian cuisine.
Among the agencies represented were the Lowell office of the Department of Social Services, Lowell School Department, Lowell Police Department, Saint Memorial Hospital, the Sex Offender Registry Board, Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, and members of the Cambodian community.
